Big Lake, MO, is the biggest naturally made lake in the state of Missouri. It is an oxbow lake that has been here for over 100 years. We are halfway between Omaha, NE and Kansas City, MO. Just 1 1/2 hours away on I-29 Highway. Take the Mound City exit and go west to Big Lake about 10 miles. There are approximately 650 acres of lake with a fabulous camping ground with full facilities. The campground is fully shaded and is on the lake. There are playgrounds, shelter house, public wash house, showers and new a public swimming pool. There is also a motel, kitchenettes, and cabins that can be rented on a nightly or weekly basis. This lake is open to the public with no fees for boating or using the boat ramps. The lake has excellent fishing (cat, carp, bass, and crappie). You can ski, boat, fish and swim in this lake. It is a well kept secret.
